Throughout her career, Sophia Brothers Peterman has focused on healing and promoting health and well-being.
She obtained her bachelor’s and MD degrees from the University of Michigan and her MPH in Epidemiology from Emory University. Her postgraduate training included General Surgery (University of Michigan), Radiology (Ohio State University, Emory University), MRI Research (Hammersmith Hospital, London, England) and Neuroradiology (Johns Hopkins University, Emory University).
Sophia joined the faculty at Emory University, then founded a solo healthcare practice integrating Western and Traditional Chinese Medical models, and then served in medical leadership overseeing multiple diagnostic outpatient imaging facilities in multiple states while practicing outpatient radiology on-site and by teleradiology.
Currently Sophia offers her Getting Quiet workshops with the intent of assisting participants to increase their sense of well-being and flourishing. She has had a contemplation practice for over 25 years utilizing many methods, primarily centering prayer. She has been writing since high school, published in medical journals and texts, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Born and raised in Michigan, Sophia has lived most of her adult life in Atlanta, Georgia. She has three grown children and three grandchildren.
